Mission Statement

Okay, so this is my first blog. I’m practising so that someday I can get paid for it. This is my mission statement, the things that are important to me and I tend to rant about, and the things you’ll most likely hear from me. I’m into politics. I’m an Obama supporter, I think for once there’s a presidential nominee who will be my president. People say I’m too optimistic, that people aren’t in politics to make positive changes, “they’re in it for the money and the power.” I can see it that way, but it’s the same with cops:some of them really want to help, some of them were molested in closets and are making up for it by making your life miserable. It’s all in the gamble. I know that if I went into politics it would be with an honest heart, to do what I thought was right. But there’s the catch, I won’t go into politics.

Anyway, I’ve digressed. This is a mission statement that’s supposed to discuss the future, not an actual rant. I’ve recently seen things the “green” way, thanks to StumbleUpon. Not that I’m arrogant or hateful to people who don’t, it’s more about my sympathies and occasional annoyance with super conservative people who don’t understand trying to make the world more efficient, regardless of the reasons. It’s about doing something not everything. I am an animal enthusiast, a sympathizer with all animals, but specifically things with fur. I hate breed restrictions. It should be about owning vicious animals, not owning a certain breed. Maybe someday I’ll be able to afford an animal sanctuary.

Oh, and I am recently disgruntled with the media. I think the dedicationto Spears and Lohan and Hilton when there are serious national and worldissues to be reporting is despicable. I think this is a multi-tiered problem. First of all, the crap sells. Second, 24/7 news stations means something’s got to be reported. Third, because people would much rather hear about Lohan being a drunk than 50,000 people dying in a natural disaster, and because following Lohan around with a camera is oh so much cheaper, it’s what our media has refocused on. We’ve pulled all of our world correspondents and replaced it with b/s US “news”.

More important than issues or complaints, I would like to respect opposing view points, I know I’m part of the liberal (can be crazy) minority but I enjoy honest, intelligent debate without disrespect or superiority. I try to think about things from a neutral position, about what it would be like from another position. It’s hard if not impossible, but at least I try. The bad thing, it’s really easy for me to see things from another perspective, and therefore change my position. Okay, so here’s a toast to the future.
